Mt Carmel Scholarship Ceremony

The Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Women’s Auxiliary would like to extend our congratulations to this year’s recipient of the 2022 Scholarship Award to Grace Blakely!

Grace is a senior at Suffield High School, where she has been very active throughout her years as a member of the Field Hockey Team, Interior Design and Photography clubs! Grace will be graduating this June with a 3.5 GPA and plans on attending the International Institute of Cosmetology in Wethersfield CT, this fall.

Each year the Women’s Auxiliary chooses 1-2 applicants who are of Italian heritage, and are related to a current member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society. Each applicant must submit an essay describing what their Italian heritage has taught them and how this knowledge will help you become successful in the next chapter of your life. Applicants can also write about an Italian relative or idol that has inspired them to be a better person.

Grace was chosen for her heartfelt tribute to her heritage along with her beautifully written words about how much she cherishes time with her ever-growing Italian family.

Grace’s mom Christine Blakely, one of our very active members within the auxiliary was present along with other family members to witness Grace’s acceptance of such a wonderful accomplishment last night at our June meeting.
